Formed in 2001 by regulars of The Chequers Public House in Stotfold, Bedfordshire,
The Society has some sixteen members who meet monthly March to November at various courses in the area to contest a
Stableford format competition. An order-of-merit competition runs throughout the season, based on a player's best
five scores, alongside a knockout tournament based on head-to-head matches each month.
On a golfing day, there is a separate evening presentation dinner, except
for occasions when the society enjoy the hospitality of the golfing venue itself. Members' wives and partners are
always welcome.
Eight Order Of Merit meetings are played at a variety
of courses (see fixtures list). The Society also runs its flagship event, usually in
June or July, which is not an order-of-merit qualifier, but a special golfing day, usually with morning and afternoon events.
Trophies are presented to the winners and runners-up each month, along with various prizes for 'nearest the pin' and 'longest drive'.
